Nonprofit of the Year Nominees:

Active4All Evergreen Foundation
Active4All Evergreen Foundation is the charitable partner of Evergreen Park & Recreation District. The Foundation mobilizes public support and financial resources for recreation activities. They run the Evergreen Lake Plunge.

Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity
A homeownership program for local, hardworking families in need of a decent and affordable place to live. They build several homes a year with volunteers in spring, summer, and fall.

Bootstraps, Inc
Since 1945, Bootstraps has served more than 2,000 promising mountain-area students through scholarships and interest free loans. Many students return to the area to live and work, giving back to their neighbors in many ways. In partnership with the community, Bootstraps helps future generations achieve their goals of higher education. All scholarships and loans are funded by local individuals, businesses, civic groups, and private foundations.

Evergreen Audubon and Nature Center
Evergreen Audubon is dedicated to conserving wildlife and natural ecosystems. We offer numerous programs for all ages and operate the Evergreen Nature Center during the summer at Evergreen Lake.

Evergreen Christian Outreach *non-eligible to win*
Evergreen Christian Outreach serves 300+ local families with a food bank, jobs program, emergency financial help and other programs to help families move towards self-sufficiency and sustainability.

Evergreen Elks Lodge, #2363
The Elks lodge serves thousands of individuals by donating to many nonprofit organizations within the community. They support many charitable events including Little Britches, Thanksgiving dinner, Bingo, Easter Egg Hunt, and the Free Breakfast grant. They also rent space in the lodge to raise money for donations. Their donations support women and children, those in need, and Veterans.

Evergreen Music Festival
Evergreen Music Festival honors our military personnel every 4th of July while providing outstanding musical entertainment! Now in its 31st year, Evergreen Music Festival presents 15 fabulous music and dance performance groups on two stages. Genres during the day include classical, jazz, pop, Indie-folk, Americana, blues and bluegrass, transitioning to a dance party with high energy rock and soul music in the early evening. Free children's activities, field activities, a Rotary Club class car show, and delicious food and beverage offerings.

Montessori School of Evergreen
The Montessori School of Evergreen educates the whole child with innovative instruction methods. Montessori education is the advantage that lasts a lifetime. Toddler - 8th-grade programs offered.

Mountain Area Land Trust
Beginning in 1992, with the much treasured Noble Meadow public project in Evergreen, MALT has conserved nearly 23,000 acres of land preserving the way of life we enjoy in Colorado. MALT continues to protect critical land and water resources in our six county service area including the mountainous area of Jefferson County.

Mountain Foothills Rotary Evergreen
Mountain Foothills Rotary programs benefit youth, special needs populations, veterans, seniors, and the international community. In 2019 donations to other organizations were over $50,000 and volunteer hours, were are over 3000. The programs they support are: EPRD Inspire Special Needs Program, ECHO, Crutches for Africa, Project Sanctuary, they charter two Scout troops and volunteer at multiple community events. They run the Evergreen Ice Melt Contest and the Andy Smith Sr. Golf Tournament.

Rotary Club of Evergreen Foundation *non-eligible to win*
The Rotary Club of Evergreen is dedicated to providing service to the mountain community of Evergreen, surrounding communities and to people all over the world.  ''Service Above Self'' with Joy! Evergreen Rotary Club and their membership volunteer in the local community for many events including Recycle Day, Salvation Army Bell Ringing campaign, Foothills Home, Garden and Lifestyle Show, EHS Interact Club, and the ECHO Food Bank.

Seniors' Resource Center, Evergreen
Seniors' Resource Center is the largest nonprofit serving older adults in the Evergreen/Mountain
Communities. They provide crucial transportation, engaging adult day programs, non-medical in-home
care, chores assistance, a food pantry, referral assistance and more. In a recent survey, 99.15% of clients
said they would recommend SRC to a family member or friend. The host of local volunteers at the Seniors' Resource Center is the epitome of genuine service - a true example of what is loved about the Evergreen community.

WEB (Women of Evergreen Businesses)
The Women of Evergreen Businesses (WEB) is a non-profit 501c3 that focuses on both supporting our member-sisters as well as those in-need in our community. WEB members are local business owners and active members of the community. We give back both through volunteering our time and through our Angel Fund. Gifts from the Angel Fund go to support local individuals and families in times of acute need and crises. A recent quote from a community member" ....I'm privileged to live among kind women who work hard and contribute to lift up others.


Volunteer of the Year Nominees:

Bruce Anderson
Volunteers for the Evergreen Rotary Club, Salvation Army Bell Ringing, Evergreen Recycle Day, Foothills Home and Garden Show, Center for the Arts Evergreen, Boogie at the Barn and the Evergreen Chamber and he is in Leadership Evergreen Class of 2019. Bruce owns Anderson Insurance Agency with Farms Insurance.

Andrew Canales
Andrew started a charity organization for veterans called Houses for Veterans. He is a college student.
He has currently rounded up a great number of veterans and their businesses to remodel a home for a wounded veteran in Lochbui CO. At the end of the month, they will do a four-day blitz and make the home livable and convenient for a veteran in a wheelchair.

Valli Crockett
Valli Crockett is a member of the Evergreen Chamber of Commerce, Women of Evergreen Business, and Evergreen Elks Lodge. She attends tons of mixers and ribbon cuttings. She also dedicates a lot of time and effort to recruiting individuals and businesses to the Chamber. An active member of the community in Evergreen. Very involved in the activities, galas, mixers, etc that the Chamber hosts. Also volunteers at most large Evergreen events.

Dean Dalvit
Dean is a founding principal of EVstudio, which was born out of his sole proprietorship Eagle View Architecture back in 2006.   Dean's personal pursuits include volunteering for Evergreen community master planning and fundraising effort for main street revitalization. Relationships with public entities and understanding the grant writing process for development is central to Dean's role on the board of this Economic Development Council. Dean also owns and manages commercial property in Evergreen and Denver, and is very mindful of the life cycle costs and how they can be controlled by virtue of the initial design.

Brenda Davis
Brenda is a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Innovative Real Estate. She currently serves on the Board of Leadership Evergreen and is the Chair-Elect for the Chamber Board. She is a member of the Mountain Metro Association of Realtors and Women of Evergreen Businesses where she helps with their annual Recycle Day and Share the Love events.

Shelley Hall
Shelley has volunteered with Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity on our International Builds and she volunteers locally as well on their Family Service Committee. She works with one of our local partner families and supports the family through the Habitat process. She also does the financial reviews of the applications that they receive. She also volunteers at the Echo Food Bank picking up the milk on a weekly basis and she runs the Summer Lunch Program for 12 weeks every summer. She also has recently taken over running the Evergreen Mountain Backpacks program that feeds kids in 13 schools in the area every weekend during the school year.

Tiffany Lockwood
During the past five years she has actively served on the Goldilocks and the Little Bear fundraiser to benefit local libraries. For the past several years, she has made her vegetarian chili for the Big Chili cookoff, to benefit the local firefighters, and one year took home the Judges Choice Award. She also serves on the MMAR (Mountain Metro Association of REALTORS) Community Outreach committee and is a member of the Elks Lodge. Tiffany also donates her time to the Taste of Evergreen every May. In addition, she chairs the Coldwell Banker Evergreen campaign to collect hats and mittens to donate to ECHO.

Marie Lynch
Marie Lynch is a Realtor with Madison & Company Properties in Evergreen.  She volunteers her time with the Mountain Metro Association of Realtors.  She served as a director on the board from 2016 to October of 2019.  She has been chair of the MMAR Community Outreach committee since 2016. This committee puts on the Goldilocks & The Little Bear event every October to raise funds for the local libraries (Evergreen, Conifer, Bailey and Idaho Springs.)  Additionally, the committee sponsors a Realtor build day with Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity twice a year.  Marie coordinates volunteers for the Evergreen Lake Plunge on New Year's Day which benefits the Active 4 All Foundation.

Michele Robbins
Michele Robbins goes above and beyond for her new member mentees. She strives to make them feel welcome to the Evergreen Chamber and upholds the chamber mission statement- helping promote business in our Evergreen Community. Michele owns RPM Insurance Agency Brokerage in Downtown Evergreen. She is an active member of the Jeffco Wildfire Task Force.

Marshal Scherba
Marshal was born and raised in Michigan, first came to Colorado in 1967, and permanently settled in Evergreen in 1970. They worked for various petroleum exploration companies in Denver, from 1970-1997, when they retired. Marshal began volunteering for Seniors' Resource Center in January, 1999, and continues to enjoy helping those who need a hand.

Andy Smith
For the past 10+ years Andy and his family have volunteered to set up and manage the event logistics for the annual Skate the Lake event. He has done everything from negotiate donations from multiple sources to building mini golf holes to be used on the ice or street. Set up, clean up, working throughout the event and the next day (New Years Day) are the hours Andy and his family have donated on behalf of Evergreen. This past year Skate the Lake had to become a giant street party in a location with no lights, no electricity and no advance set up time. Andy stepped up and created a plan that executed fantastically and helped to raise money for local nonprofits. Hours of work went into creating a detailed plan that the community enjoyed and appreciated.

Jan Thurling
Like many, Jan enjoys retirement with friends and family in Evergreen. Unlike most of us, Jan is undaunted by an uncomfortable topic, children who are trafficked for purposes of sexual exploitation. Jan spearheaded the First Annual Mountain Community Barefoot Mile in 2019 to support JOY International, a local organization that rescues and restores children who are victims of sex trafficking. In the first year alone, Evergreen businesses joined with 150 walkers in raising nearly $22,000. Jan heads the JOY Team, 18 local residents representing churches and businesses, with a goal to double the success of the 2020 BFM fundraiser. It's our chance to stand up for those who cannot stand for themselves.

Jen Pearson
Jen Pearson, a licensed therapist, provides free counseling services to youth ages 12-20 in the mountain communities west of Denver through Resilience1220. They work to raise awareness of the social, emotional, and mental-health issues young people face, and to provide the necessary life skills to create wellness and resiliency in their lives.

John Putt
John is the Co-owner of Windermere Real Estate Services of Evergreen. For the past three years he has created partnerships with community leaders and Realtors to present Wildland Fire Awareness programs to the community. He is a Team Leader for the Upper Bear Creek / Clear Creek County Wildfire grant committee, serves on the MMAR (Mountain Metro Association of Realtors) Wildfire Education Committee and has been working closely with the Evergreen Rotary Wildfire Task Force. John also volunteers his time to staff and support the Jefferson County Sherriff's Office of Emergency Operations Center for countywide fire and emergency medical preparedness and response. In addition, he is the Director of Communications for the Alpine Rescue Team and a volunteer search and rescue member.


Ambassador of the Year Nominees:

Valli Crockett
Valli Crockett is a member of the Evergreen Chamber of Commerce, Women of Evergreen Business, and Evergreen Elks Lodge. She attends tons of mixers and ribbon cuttings. She also dedicates a lot of time and effort to recruiting individuals and businesses to the Chamber. An active member of the community in Evergreen. Very involved in the activities, galas, mixers, etc that the Chamber hosts. Also volunteers at most large Evergreen events.

Harry & Shirley Foster
Harry and Shirley moved from NJ to Evergreen 8 years ago and started their business Inspectrum Inspections. To enhance their business they decided to join the Evergreen Chamber of Commerce, after being members they decided to become Ambassadors. Not only did their business grow, they met so many people through the chamber and have made many dear friends.

Candace O'Brien
Candace O'Brien offers Intuitive coaching for clients to get them ''unstuck'' from their current life challenges, better manage their lives, and create greater fulfillment and joy.  She works closely with the new members to get them up and running with the Chamber.

Michele Robbins

Leader of the Year Nominees:

Heather Aberg - Resilience 1220
Heather started Resilience 1220, a nonprofit created in 2019 to address the increasing number of suicides and attempted suicides in our community. This nonprofit provides free individual and group counseling (as well as outreach and programs) to youth so that their issues can be addressed and their resilience increased. For years, Heather has run a monthly support group for those who have lost a loved one to suicide. She was a bereavement counselor with Mt. Evans for 20 years and had a private practice for over 7 years.

Cindy Latham - Evergreen Rotary Wildfire Task Force
Cindy is a Team Leader for the North Turkey Creek Community Wildfire Protection and Implementation Plan, serves on the community wildfire readiness leadership team with Evergreen Fire Rescue and has been working closely with Colorado State Forestry, Evergreen Fire Rescue and Elk Creek Fire Department on multiple projects. She also joined Evergreen Rotary one year ago and chairs their Wildfire Task Force.

Jeanne Beaudry - Mountain Area Land Trust
Jeanne Beaudry has been the director of the Mountain Area Land Trust for 10 years. She has been the quiet catalyst for making MALT into organization it is today. MALT works with private landowners and rancher to conserve land in perpetuity, and works to create public land preservation such as the Beaver Brook Watershed. Under her leadership, MALT conserved has conserved a total of 22,000 acres - forever!

Dr. Jeff Brodsky - JOY International
Dr. Jeff Brodsky is a world-renowned author and global expert in the field of anti-trafficking. In 1981, Dr. Brodsky founded JOY International with the vision of bringing freedom, hope and joy to suffering children around the world. Dr. Jeff and JOY International staff members travel all over the world to speak about trafficking, how to recognize it when you see it, and what you can do to help prevent it. On July 19th, 2010, Dr. Jeff began living totally barefoot to show solidarity and bring awareness to the plight of children being held as sex slaves around the world. His organization has contributed to the rescue of over 2,000 children, teens and young women.

Brandon Brekke - Evergreen High School
Brandon began his career in education in 2006, originally as a History teacher. He taught at an international school in Costa Rica for two year while pursuing my MA degree in educational leadership. He was fortunate to rejoin the Jeffco family as a Dean and Assistant Principal, at Jefferson High School, Drake Middle School, and is now the Principal of Evergreen High School.


Youth of the Year Nominees:

Donovan Schar Davis -  Evergreen High School
Donovan is a Senior at Evergreen High. During his years at EHS, Donovan's represented his grade as Freshman and Sophomore class Officer, and Co-Student Body President. He's also been a member and officer of the Evergreen Theater Program since his Sophomore year, as well as co-founded EHS Gay-Straight Alliance.

Luke Johnson- Evergreen High School
Luke Johnson was born and raised in Evergreen. He enjoys the outdoors, hunting, lacrosse, gaming and spending time with friends and family. When Luke was 14, his father suffered a fatal heart attack in his presence and Luke performed CPR on him.  Luke has given back to his community by speaking about personal grief and mental health in hopes of helping others. 

Maddie Sontag - Evergreen High School
Maddie Sontag is involved in music and sports at EHS, while she strives to make a difference in Evergreen. She works at the local Starbucks and has partnered with EChO to donate excess food and avoid waste. She also started communicating with employees regarding recycling to improve on the process so that the proper things are being recycled and put into the proper containers to help with our environment and community.
