Shopping with kids can sometimes be a nightmare.  Keeping them entertained and happy while trying to get some things accomplished can be a formidable task.  Finding locally sourced fresh produce and food can also be a challenge.  This time-consuming task can involve running from shop to shop to find the perfect tomato or freshly picked Colorado peaches.

A great solution is to visit the Farmers Market in Evergreen on Tuesdays between 10:00am and 2:00pm for great shopping and fun activities for kids. The location at Evergreen Country Day School is convenient for picking up anything from fresh flowers to dinner while the kids are engaged and having fun. Kids can help select the products needed and ask questions of the vendors making it an educational and fun task instead of something to dread.  Evergreen Animal Protection League brings a variety of adoption puppies and dogs that love to be pet and cuddled at the market.

The Spark City activity bus is the perfect beginning or end to shopping the Evergreen farmer's market.  The bus is filled with engaging and educational activities that kids of all ages will enjoy.  Originally designed as a "traveling museum" this bus has been a staple for many years at Farmer's Markets and preschools all over Colorado.  Kids of all ages can explore the inside of the bus that has been transformed with play-based, interactive learning such as a market of their own, musical instruments, books and more.  This traveling museum allows for inquiry-based learning and creativity.

There are a fantastic variety of vendors this year such as growers-only fresh produce, baked goods, frozen fish, sangria, tamales, chili peppers, French cheese, clothing, jewelry, gyros, cold-pressed juices, EAPL puppies, and fresh flowers to name a few. The Jefferson County Master Gardeners have an informational booth with expertise to share with both adults and children.  They answer questions about mountain gardening, share knowledge about bees/bugs and have interactive activities for kids.  The friendly and knowledgeable market vendors provide information about their wares and services as well as providing samples.
