Bed and Breakfast Evergreen Keeps Your Fires Burning!

We all need a little time to connect with our loved ones. It may be as indulgent as a night at a romantic bed and breakfast Evergreen or it can be a simple quiet evening in. That connection is what keeps your fires burning and is the key to lasting relationships – romantic or otherwise.

Gail Riley and Tom Statzell have been creating the ultimate lodging in Evergreen CO for a romantic getaway for the last 40 years. You read that right, the Highland Haven has been owned and operated by the same couple since 1979. That’s longer than nearly every restaurant in Downtown Evergreen has existed, save the Little Bear. Their unique blend of rustic mountain romance and modern design has created a completely Coloradoan escape from reality, even if your zip code also ends in 80439. Tucked behind a rock outcropping and along 400 ft of Bear Creek, you are walking distance to downtown with none of the noise or traffic. You can sip on a complimentary happy hour wine or beer along Bear Creek in the signature green Adirondack chairs and feel like you’re a hundred miles away from home.

The crème de la crème of the property is the TreeHouse, it offers decadent mountain luxury with a custom crystal chandelier hanging above a sumptuous king bed and a champagne jetted jacuzzi tub on the 3rd floor with 300-degree views of the towering spruces. You can cozy up in front of the fireplace in custom green leather chairs while you enjoy quiet conversation or completely relax in the steam shower. Admire the TreeHouse art that was carefully curated by Gail herself, as was every thoughtful detail in this tree-top escape. It’s easy to add on a Romance Package to have waiting for you upon arrival – a bottle of Prosecco, two custom HH flutes, signature star & moon chocolates and a lovely floral display from Stems. In the morning have a delicious breakfast (included) in the historic Dailey Cabin c. 1884 or let the staff spoil you and have breakfast in bed!

If you can’t get away for an overnight might we suggest a ‘Cocktail Party for 2’ from Gail’s book Colorado Romance. Have your own cocktail party just the two of you at home and make it memorable. Dress up a little, set the mood with your favorite music and pick a special spot; on your deck by summer, in the winter by fire, or in the bedroom! Pull out your best glasses or buy new ones – they can be inexpensive but make the drinks taste even better. Dedicate a toast to you two. Celebrations are the best and you just can’t have too many of them. Need inspiration? Take a look at the two cocktail recipes below…

Gin & Tonic

4 to 5 tonic water ice cubes

2 oz Gin

4 oz tonic water

1 tsp freshly squeezed lime juice

Lime wedge for garnish

Place the *ice cubes in a tall, narrow, chilled glass (the cubes should come near the top.) Add the gin, then the tonic water, then the lime juice, stirring well. Garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately.

*To make the ice cubes, simply fill an ice cube tray with tonic water and freeze. Add a mint leaf or two to each cube for a fun twist on the classic!

Raspberry Martini

1.5 oz Stolichnaya (Stoli) Raspberry Vodka

1 splash Cranberry Juice

¾ oz Chambord Raspberry Liqueur

Shake the ingredients with ice (or stir if you prefer) until well chilled. Pour into a martini glass and garnish with a raspberry.

Cheers!
