April 2020 Newsletter excerpt

Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something and that this thing must be attained.

Marie Curie

We are living in a worldwide medical emergency that will have an end. This is a temporary pause to life as we know it. This wasn't planned and there was no roadmap in existence to help guide us along to recovery. And recover we will. Who could have predicted that in less than 30 days we would go from a vibrant and economically successful community to one that is worried about when it will be over and when we can get back to normal. We went from business as usual, to no gatherings of more than 50 people, to no gatherings period. We went from being able to get a massage, a haircut, our dog groomed to social isolation. And finally, we went from enjoying a beer and a burger on decks and in restaurants all over town to just staying at home away from each other until April 26th. Life is definitely not easy.

As a community of residents and businesses we will persevere. The Evergreen Chamber staff has been working diligently to provide the connection to resources that we all need to create our personal roadmap to the other side. On our website and facebook page you will find the COVID-19 resource information links on available jobs and unemployment, loans and grants for businesses, emergency services for food, shelter, and expenses, mental and physical health services and much more. The economic impact to our community as well as those around the country affects us all and we are continuously putting out connections to new information. Remember this is temporary and we are stronger together.

We have also been working closely with both the Conifer Chamber and the Platte Canyon Chamber on initiatives for the mountain community. We meet multiple times a week on an economic task force making sure to share resources on how to help our business community weather this incredible storm and find the light at the end of the tunnel. Read more in Melanie Swearingin's article entitled "Road to Recovery" in this month's Colorado Serenity Magazine.

Have you had a chance to participate in the Take Out Take Over or the Shop Only Local Online Sale Program? Take Out Take Over lists what restaurants are still open, connects you to their menus and hours. The Gift Card Sale Program is where you can buy gift cards to multiple restaurants, retailers, services and more all in one transaction. No need to drive all over town or visit multiple websites. One stop shop, the businesses receive the revenue and when the time comes you can go on in and shop local. The Shop Only Local Gift Card purchase program has already pumped over $7000 back to our businesses during this crisis!

For some of us it is the time to receive help from others and rely on the strength of our community. For others it is the time to give and support others. Consider what time it is for you and make sure you do the right thing. Our economy will continue and we will recover together.

Business in our mountain community will go on. We at the Evergreen Chamber are working on daily basis to be nimble in how we meet both our business and residential needs. We are a champion for our local community. Please feel free to email me personally at president@evergreenchamber.org or leave me a message on our office phone (303) 674-3412 and I will get back to you. We are always open to suggestion on how to better serve our others, thank you in advance for your support.
